Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant, Baltimore, Maryland
Wastewater Treatment Services
The Wastewater Treatment Facility Project
The Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant provides waste water treatment service to Baltimore City, Baltimore County and surrounding vicinities. The Stage 1 Chlorine Improvements on Contract #810 involved the installation of state-of-the-art chlorination equipment making the Back River Treatment Plant, one of the most efficient in the State of Maryland.
Poole & Kent Mechanical Contractor Role
As the prime mechanical contractor, Poole and Kent performed the installation of the following systems/equipment: (8) 12,050 gallon Sodium Hypochlorite Tanks, (2) 5,050 gallon Sodium Bisulfite Tanks, Gas Chlorination and Sulfonatin Ejectors and a new Carbon Dioxide Sparger System.
Challenges/ Achievements/ Goals
Due to the infrastructure of Maryland's water supply chain, the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant maintained operation during construction. This simultaneous operation of the plant was possible due to heavy coordination by Poole and Kent's Project Team.
Poole and Kent has completed multiple contracts for the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant, including the prototype egg digesters (Due to their massive size, they are known to Baltimoreans as the 'the golden eggs of Baltimore County.").
